Optimizing the mass transport of wall-tube electrodes for protein film electrochemistry

Protein Film Electrochemistry (PFE) is a technique in which an enzyme directly wired to electrode and its catalytic turnover rate measured under the form of electrical current. This has proved useful for study number enzymes, but requires fast transport enzymatic substrate towards electrode. In previous work (Fadel et al, Phys. Chem. Phys., 2019, 21, 12360), we have proposed new design based on wall-tube that provides better than rotating disc electrode, usually employed PFE studies. present work, use computational fluid dynamics explore effects various parameters cell, propose semi-empirical formula suitable predict mass-transport coefficient wall shear stress We 3D-printed cell experimentally validate our predictions.
